I really want to know so if i need to ill pay for it to download, so i really wanna know if paying for rapidshare and downloading on it, is illegal….
Downloading a file does NOT give you the liscense to use it. I think rapid fire knows that and is counting on people not knowing the difference. Paying for a program is NOT paying for the content. I think that companies who prey on customers who do not know or who are encouraged not to know the truth is unethical
It seems that the primary difference between Piratebay, which is undergoing a lawsuit, and the other sites mentioned, is that Piratebay catalogs illicit files even if it doesn’t host them, while Megaupload and Rapidshare host files but don’t allow browsing. Is that basically it?
Rapidshare provides a hosting facility for its users. Things hosted on rapidshare are private (you must know the exact url for the file which only the uploader will know although many post them on forums and such) and rapidshare will remove anything that is reported to them as illegal or in breach of their rules. Piratebay publicly hosts files that they and everyone else knows are not legal.
…and how do you get awarded them? The rapidshare site doesn’t seem to explain very well.
